PCB 649A71 Knock Sensor Transmitter - The PCB 649A71 series piston machine protection knock sensor transmitter provides more secure data acquisition and preliminary data processing with integrated microprocessor data processing for more reliable condition monitoring and protection of piston machines.
Piston machines can develop certain faults quite rapidly, which can lead to further serious damage. To prevent malfunctions, mechanical or, ideally, electronic vibration switches are commonly used, mostly on the equipment's crankcase. Traditional vibration switches, vibration sensors, and processing methods are not suitable for monitoring elements of piston machines such as the connecting rod, crosshead, piston rod, and valves subjected to strong impact loads due to their physical limitations. The PCB 649A71 series piston machine protection transmitter provides more secure data acquisition and preliminary data processing with integrated microprocessor data processing for more reliable condition monitoring and protection of piston machines. The operation of various elements of piston equipment and their faults are related to impact-type vibration phenomena. These impacts generally have very high amplitudes but very narrow widths. Traditional vibration sensors can easily be driven into resonance or saturation by these impulses, giving false alarms, while mechanical switches can be triggered by lower frequency vibrations sooner. Therefore, a different sensor, signal content, and more effective processing are required for proper evaluation compared to the usual rotating machinery analysis.
